Who can stop Anderson Silva??

After watching the destruction Anderson Silva put on Forrest Griffin, I began to wonder if there was a conceivable matchup out there that Silva could lose. He is undefeated in the UFC and has destroyed some top flight competition at 185. The Spider's next fight looks to be against Dan Henderson for the middle weight title. Hendo can cause problems for Silva, but is still a heavy underdog. So can anyone beat this man? Here are a few fighters that I think could take out the number one fighter on the planet.

1. Rashad Evans- I picked Rashad because the only round Silva has lost in the octogon was against Dan Henderson, a great wrestler. Not only is Evans an awesome wrestler, he has the power in both his hands and feet to trade with Silva. The fact that Rashad is bigger, stronger, and faster then Hendo makes the argument that he can beat Anderson even stronger. I think it would be a tough fight, and i would be shocked to see Silva put his hands at his sides and taunt Rashad.

2. Rampage Jackson- See the trend here? Big, strong, powerful strikers who can trade with anyone in the world. Rampage would give Anderson a run for his money. Some may look at the loss to Forrest Griffin as a reason he would lose to Silva, but don't let that fool you. Few people on the planet can trade with Jackson, and he is another fighter that could potentially beat Silva.

3. Lyoto Machida- This is the dream super fight that everyone seems to be waiting for. It actually happening is a whole different story that requires many pieces to fall into place before it can be done. The two men are friends who appear to not want to fight which is why many are skeptical about the fight ever happening. Machida also has a title defense against Shogun Rua in October which would push this fight into 2010. Anderson would either have to be awarded a chance to hold two belts in different weight classes, or give up his belt at 185. But the Dragon has amazing counter punching skills, and a solid karate base. He could be the man that has the tools to beat Anderson, but a lot has to be done for UFC fans to ever get to witness it.

These three fighters are all very capable of handing Silva a loss, but is it going to happen? We dont know, and if it does it wont be in the near future. As mentioned before, Machida has a title defense, and Rampage is gearing up to take on Rashad at UFC 107 in December. Dan Henderson has a shot as well, but that is really the only person who dented Silva's armor at 185. And he didnt even make it out of the second round! Well lets hear it, who do you think can beat this man? Can anyone? Leave your comments, I am interested to know what people think about this.

Peace

  1. Forrest Disappointed me at UFC 101 i really thought he could give Silva a run for his money. Machida is the only one who can beat him out of the 3 you named in my opinion. I think Henderson can beat him if he hits him like he did Bisping and he did do better then anyone else against Silva. Now i am a huge GSP fan but i think the weight alone would mproove too dificult for GSP to handle. But if you are gonna ask about who can beat Silva why not ask about who can beat GSP? He completely owned his "toughest challenger ever in Thiago Silva
