First blog

Well I am new to this whole blogging business but figured it was about time to try. The name is Dan and the blog is dedicated to all things UFC. I'm not a big fan of beating around the bush, so we can cut the bullshit and get to talking about the fights.

As i write this it is 12:58 AM on August 10th and like many of you fight junkies out there, i just witnessed the beating Miguel Torres took and the shock hasn't worn off. Bowles dropped the champ with a hard right and finished him off on the ground. I had Torres as my number 5 top pound for pound fighter in the world, and seeing him decisively smashed into the ground will have me retooling my rankings.
Right now as it stands my top 5 pound for pound greatest fighters on the planet is as follows.....

1. Anderson Silva- I had Fedor here for a long long time, but Silva's absolute domination of Forrest Griffin will have him here until Fedor is done cleaning out Strikeforce's HW division. Silva appears to have no weaknesses and is one of the most lethal strikers ever seen in MMA. It will take a great fighter and great luck to hand this Brazilian born champion his first loss in the octogon.

2. Fedor Emelianenko- Would have stayed at 1 with a beating of Josh Barnett, but for now will be number 2 on my list until he fights again.

3. Georges St Pierre- GSP won every single round against a very tough Thiago Alves and did so with a hurt hamstring for most of the fight. Almost had him at 2 but i coulden't drop Fedor two spots... yet.

4. Lyoto Machida- Possibly the most dominant fighter in the UFC simply because he hasn't lost a single ROUND in 15 fights. He could be the champ at 205 for years to come, and should be ready to defend his title against Shogun in October.

5. BJ Penn- I had Mike Thomas Brown here for a while, but after watching BJ demolish top contender Kenny Florian, i had to get him in the top 5. He may not be cut for the welterweight division, but at 155 and dedicated to his conditioning, the only person beating Penn is himself. At 30 he could potentially be one of the most dominant, greatest champions of all time, as there are few who can challenge him at this weight. Frankie Edgar, Gray Maynard, and Sean Sherk are all people who could challenge Penn, but all of them would be severe underdogs to upset the champion.

As previously stated my intention here is to talk all things UFC and MMA all the time. Soon i will have a rundown and predections of UFC 102 and who Fedor's first Strikeforce opponent will be. If anyone out there is reading i apreciate it, it will only get better.

Peace out.
